Jon Chitwood is a husband, father, farmer, elected school board member, and community-minded Republican.

The Chitwoods live in the Hillsdale watershed, where land, water, roads, schools, and growth are not abstract policy issues. They are part of everyday life.

For more than 17 years, Jon and his family have owned and worked land in District 5, including their farm south of Lane. Farming has been his full-time profession since 2012, shaping how he thinks about land, schools, taxes, hard work, and the future of small-town and rural Kansas.

Jon believes public service should stay close to real life: listening first, solving practical problems, protecting taxpayers, and making sure growth strengthens the people who already call this place home.

  • Over 12 years of Boy Scouts of America volunteer experience.

  • Managed national and global transaction-processing systems and programs for major private-sector and government clients.
  • Managed the U.S. Government AIR Card and SEA Card global aviation and marine fueling networks.

Elected Service

  • Elected member of the USD 230 Board of Education.
  • Voted for career and technical education opportunities in agriculture, allied health, and aviation for students.
